St. Gilbert Parish Young Adult Ministry

This year we were able to re-examine our faith with Dr. Kate DeVries. She led us in discussions, song and prayers celebrating and exploring The Eucharist and mass.

Mr. Willie Cobb drew our largest crowd and aided us in conversation about the role of Christian faith in achieving success in life. We questioned society's stereotype of success versus our Christian definition of success and how our values affects not only ourselves but also our friends, family and society.

Sr. Dusty Farnan guided us through self-discovery and finding your way as a Christian in modern life. We reflected on the importance of self-awareness and taking the time to reaffirm and revive your faith through daily contemplation.

On our final night, Dr. Terry Nelson-Johnson challenged our beliefs in honesty within all of our relationships. We examined the concepts, blessings and burdens of being truthful in our work relationships, intimate relationships, friendships, and with ourselves.

We enjoyed seeing everyone that was able to attend Theology on Tap. We hope that you enjoyed the program. We hope that all young adults at St. Gilbert Church will join us for our monthly program. Whether it is your first time spending time with our group, or you have been to many events, we would like to extend an invitation for you to join us every first Saturday of the month. We attend 5PM mass then enjoy good food and conversations followed by games and relaxation.

We are also planning several activities throughout the coming year as well as collaborations with St. Paul The Apostle's Catholic Young Adults group.

Theology On Tap was started in 1981 by Fr. Jack Wall, Mr. Tom James, both on staff at St. James Parish in Arlington Heights, and a small group of St. James' University of Illinois college parishioners looking to grow as Catholics during their summer break. It has since become the premier program of catechesis and evangelization of young adult Catholics in the United States and around the world. It’s an enriching experience of young adults in their 20’s and 30’s, married or single coming together to discuss relationships, liturgy, prayer, and faithful living from a modern Christian point of view.
